Picnic with my family
A Perfect day out:Picnic with my family:
Life often gets so busy that we forget to pause, breathe, and simply enjoy each other's company. But recently, my family and I did exactly that—we packed up our bags, left our worries behind, and spent a beautiful day together at Green Meadows Park, a hidden gem just outside the city. What followed was a day full of laughter, love, and unforgettable moments.
The Perfect Spot – Green Meadows Park
Green Meadows Park is located about 45 minutes from our home, nestled at the edge of the countryside. The first thing that hits you when you arrive is the fresh, earthy smell of nature—something you can’t experience in the city. The park is spread over several acres, with wide open grassy fields, tall whispering trees, and a sparkling lake right in the center. It’s a peaceful place where birds sing freely, children run without fear, and families like ours come to reconnect.
There’s a dedicated picnic area with wooden benches, barbecue spots, and shady trees that provide perfect comfort from the sun. We chose a spot near the lake, where we could see ducks gliding across the water and feel the breeze coming off its surface. It was truly picture-perfect.
The Joy of Preparation
The day began early. My mother was up before the sun, preparing her famous chicken sandwiches and spicy vegetable rolls. My father made a big pot of lemon mint cooler, and my siblings and I helped pack everything into a large picnic basket—complete with paper plates, napkins, and a soft mat.
We also brought along a cricket bat, a frisbee, a Bluetooth speaker, and a camera to capture the day. The car ride to the park was full of cheerful chatter, music, and that buzzing excitement you only feel before something special.
Setting Up and Soaking It In
Once we arrived at Green Meadows Park, we found our perfect spot under a large neem tree with wide, leafy branches that created a natural green umbrella. The air was crisp, the sky was clear blue, and the atmosphere felt light and carefree.
We laid out our mat, set up the food, and took a few minutes just to breathe in the scenery. The view of the lake glistening in the morning sun, surrounded by lush greenery and dotted with colorful flowers, was almost magical.
Laughter, Games, and Togetherness
The best part of the day was just being ourselves. We played cricket in the open field, cheering each other on and laughing when someone missed an easy catch. My little sister tried flying a kite for the first time, and the joy on her face when it soared into the sky was priceless.
We also had a small speaker playing soft music in the background, adding to the peaceful vibe. My dad and I took a walk down a small trail lined with wildflowers, while my mom and brother relaxed on the mat, enjoying the sunshine.
A Delicious Outdoor Feast
By lunchtime, we were all hungry. We had brought a delicious mix of home-cooked food: spicy chicken curry, fresh salad, potato cutlets, and soft parathas wrapped in foil to keep them warm. We sat together on the mat, sharing food, stories, and laughter.
The open air made everything taste even better. There were no fancy plates, no restaurant lights, just the sound of the wind in the trees and the people I love most beside me.
For dessert, we had homemade chocolate brownies and a cold fruit custard that my mom had packed in a cooler. Simple, sweet, and satisfying.

As the sun began to dip low in the sky, the park turned golden. The water in the lake shimmered, and the leaves looked like they were dipped in honey. We spent the last hour taking family photos, feeding the ducks, and lying back on the mat, looking up at the clouds.
There was a calm silence on the way home. Not because we were tired—though we were—but because everyone was still wrapped in the warmth of the day we had just lived. A day without screens, without stress. Just us and nature.
A Day to Remember
Our picnic at Green Meadows Park reminded me that happiness doesn’t always come from big plans or expensive places. Sometimes, it’s just about choosing a beautiful spot, packing some food, and being present with your family.
I’ll never forget the laughter, the games, the flavors, or the golden sunset that closed our perfect day. We may return to our busy lives, but now we carry with us a lovely memory—a simple day at Green Meadows Park that meant everything.
